Hi, I am Heather and I started breeding guinea pigs as a child and then boarding small pets from home in 1988.

After spending many years as a Riding Coach then specializing in Equine Veterinary Nursing, I spent 5 years in France where I bred horses from home.  After moving back to the UK, I have now settled in Didcot and work as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School.

My own children have enjoyed helping to look after our pet guinea pigs and so I have come full circle and once again, offer a boarding service from home.

Keeping cavies offers much to children in terms of developing a routine, responsibility and empathy which are developed willingly as a consequence of the child's fascination and interest in the animal.

As a first pet for children, guinea pigs are ideal:  They are easily tamed, a convenient size for children to hold, relatively placid and extremely tolerant.  They also have a wonderfully calm and beneficial effect for children on the autistic spectrum, with an aura unique to their species.
